Because of the constant growth in technology there have been many more inventions with tattooing equipment. Thanks to this there are many ways to get different colors, shadings and textures in your tattoo today.

EGYPT - Egyptian people used a wooden handled instrument to do many tribal tattoos but, later on they used a bronze handled needle.



POLYNESIAN - Polynesian tattoos are seen as a wealth and social status. Their technique is very different though. They use a rake like set of needles; in a line and the tip of a wooden handled tool and then they use another stick to tap the rake like tool into the skin.



THAI - The Thai people believe that tattoos are for luck. Certain shades and shapes being luck to different parts of your body. They used something like a needle with a quill to perform the tattoo. The tip of the bamboo tool is split in two at the pointed tip to release the ink.

Sailors began to discover tattoos while roaming the seas and going to different countries.

Samuel O'Rielly invents the very first mechanical needle.

Sailors brought tattooing home and started the trend.

Many of the orginal tattoos of sailors were to represent things.
